The Voynich Manuscript: Frankincense

This is my second try with the Frankincense (Boswellia sacra). This time I will place it on fol. 89v (3) of the Voynich Manuscript. The base of the plant in the drawing is an object in the style of the VMs jars. It could be that the plant was potted or it could be incense burner (or anything else, of course).

Frankincense was used to treat scorpion bites according to some old recipes. So with some stretch of imagination we can see scorpion in the root of the drawing. Herbert West Seager, provides example of such frankincense treatment in his book Natural History in Shakespeare's Time.
